2019 season well underway...

Written by Club Secretary Chris Hollands.

Now the season is well underway, an update is overdue...

Availability & Selection
The season has begun incredibly positively with availability. We have an abundance of quality players to pick from and Mark, Pat and Matt are having incredibly difficult decisions to make, with arguably the strongest three elevens going out this weekend that we have ever put out.. Competition for places is therefore strong. A message from the captains - please do not be despondent if you do play for a side lower than you may have done previously; take it as an opportunity to prove that you can play at a higher level and give the captains further headache!

With regards to the 3rd XI, we are now hopeful of arranging a 3rd XI match for every Saturday for the remainder of the season so please do make yourself available if you would like to play 3rd XI cricket. The medium-term aim is for the 3rd XI to join the KCVL in the near future.

Individual congratulations must go to Darren Baker for his 203* against Leigh - the first double-ton for the club in modern times.

Club Night - Champions League
On Saturday 1st June, we will be holding the next Club Night after our matches. Please make every effort to stay at Tugmutton and watch the Champions League final which will be on in the bar.

Juniors
Well done to the Juniors who began their season with an 8-wicket win over Beckenham. They have their first home game this Sunday: 9.30am start against Dartford so come along and support the boys.

Thursday Nets
These have now begun for Seniors. Generally, these will be from approx 5.30/6pm until we run out of steam!

Pitch Project
Thanks to DK's efforts, this enormous project continues to make positive strides. I am sure you can all appreciate the red-tape and bureaucracy that this brings, though. The easiest way for you to support your club is through attending Club Nights and giving generously. However, we also have a new crowd-funding site www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/locksbottomcc
You can read more about the plans here:

Pitchero
To ease communication, it would greatly aid me if all members (playing or non-playing) joined Pitchero as a member of the club. Future communications from myself by email will lessen with more directly through the website.

Websites
Finally, a reminder that we have two websites.
Our playcricket site is great for stats and league table info whereas the www.locksbottomcc.co.uk one will give up-to-date club news.
