Winter nets on hold during national lockdown

We entered the new year full of hope and optimism that cricket would be far less disrupted than last year. Unfortunately, as coronavirus continues to spread rapidly, we will have to wait a while longer before things return to our perceived normality.

The government guidance on sports and physical activity during lockdown explicitly states that indoor gyms and sports facilities will remain closed. Further information can be found here. The ECB have confirmed that unfortunately all indoor and outdoor privately owned cricket facilities need to remain closed for all but elite cricket activity and disability cricket outdoors. Despite the all-encompassing range of cricket at Locksbottom, unfortunately we do not fall into either of these categories. As such, we are unable to organise winter net sessions under the current restrictions.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation in the hope that we might be able to offer some indoor nets before the outdoor nets are available in April.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative to continue to adhere to government guidance. By continuing to stay at home and minimise the chances of transmission, we can all contribute to a successful lockdown and hopefully see both the number of cases and deaths reduce enough for the season to start and be uninterrupted. I hope you and your loved ones continue to stay safe and well, and please don't hesitate to contact a member of committee if you are in need of support through these testing times.
