A season to remember, for reasons other than the pandemic

Although the 2020 season will inevitably be overshadowed by the global pandemic which has dominated our lives off the pitch, we reflect on a year to remember by taking a closer look at some of the club's achievements on the pitch.

Firstly, there have been some memorable moments with the bat. There were six centurions this season, namely David Killpack (who also reached an incredible 10,000 club runs this season), Richard Kimber, Charlie Buck, and maiden club tons for Pulkit Verma, Liam Turner and Ed King! Dave Mason was also in fine form, amassing an impressive 658 runs, including six 50s. However, perhaps the biggest highlight occurred in the 3rd XI, when Abi Cutting and Bhoomika Bhat became the first female pair to occupy the crease in the club’s history.

Bhoomika also played a starring role with the ball, taking a hattrick in the annual President’s XI vs Chairman’s XI match, as well as becoming the first female to play in the 1st XI league side. Other standout performances include Charlie Buck’s hattrick against Bromley Common, James Baxter’s hattrick at Sissinghurst, and inspiring 5-wicket hauls for both Charlie Barton and Felix Habgood. In doing so, Felix collected his 300th club wicket, while Abi Cutting also recorded her 100th wicket for LBCC this season. Special mention must also go to Ewan Mason, who took a club-high 32 wickets this season, which included a maiden league 5-fer against Knockholt.
